The Young Princess Kills Everyone: Re
Mitis, Luno and Ceres safely made it into the God Guidance Academy.
The academy was not a boarding school, but most of the students lived in the dorms.
To focus on their studies.
Most of the students were those who took the goal of becoming a ‘God’ very seriously.
Unlike middle school, there were many students who were blazingly passionate, and the three got engulfed in the atmosphere from the day of the entrance ceremony.
“This is awesome, isn’t it? Everyone is so serious about this.”
Returning to her dorm after the exciting first day, Ceres sat on her bed.
“That’s my bed.”
Mitis entered the room after her and sharply pointed this out.
“Don’t be naive, I’m rubbing my scent on your stuff to make sure everyone knows you’re mine. Also, won’t you get lonely at night?”
“Are you a dog!?”
“Hehehe, we can always be together now, so none of us will ever feel lonely.”
“Luno, that’s a bit off-point too.”
“Oh, really?”
Mitis’s expression of exasperation changed into a smile when she saw the cuteness of Luno curiously tilting her head.
The academy’s dormitory was more like an apartment.
There was a dining hall separate from the school cafeteria, but the students were free to utilize whichever one they wanted.
Further, there were also stalls, bookstores, libraries, and amusement facilities; one could easily live their whole lives in the dorms.
In fact, the facility was built precisely for that.
To make the students focus only on becoming a God, without leaving outside – that was the true form of the God Guidance Academy.
“This is a pretty terrifying facility now that I get another look at it, though.”
“I was surprised at the briefing as well, but even more so when I saw all the nooks and crannies during orientation.”
“I thought this was going to be a more strict and serious school, but there’s lots of things to do here other than studying as well, huh?”
“Studying isn’t the only way to become a god.”
“Personality, human relations, and even luck. It’s decided by taking a total of everything.”
“I heard some students became a god just because of their good luck.”
Nearly a thousand students enrolled in this academy every year.
With that many, it was expected that some of the students among them would have surprisingly good luck.
“Aah, I get it. I’d rather pay my respects to a god who simply brings good luck, rather than a god of studying or something.”
“You should still study though, you know?”
“Yeah, I want us to be in the same class.”
“Don’t worry about that. Ceres here was in perfect form during today’s class division test!”
“Hmmmh.”
“What’s with the eyes? You don’t believe me! Just you wait, I’m gonna get even better results than Mitis! Even if I get bad results, I’ll still get in the same class with my good luck!”
“You’re being very ominous already…… Well, it’s not like I can guarantee that I’ll be in the same class by working hard either.”
“It’s alright. We’ve always been together so far.”
The test’s results came out the next day.
In this academy where the most excellent students from all times and places gathered, Luno still steadily continued getting in the top 5.
She did not boast much, but she was certainly the type of person to be called a genius.
And Mitis, wholeheartedly wanting to stay with Luno, also got 25th place.
Finally, Ceres fell a little behind and got 57th place.
There were around 30 people per class.
So Ceres was going to be left out.
Ceres was so clearly depressed that even Mitis hesitated to quarrel with her.
Just getting close to her was enough to sense an aura of depression that made one’s body feel heavier.
However, when it actually came time to divide classes, Ceres, Luno and Mitis were in the same class.
The class divisions were not determined by grades alone anyhow – in Ceres’s case, her physical ability was apparently valued highly.
Ceres was revived and went back to her usual annoying self.
With that, the group’s academy life got off to a favorable start.
◇◇◇
Excluding the extremely high-level lessons, the classes in the God Guidance Academy were not that different from other high schools.
However, the teachers were completely different.
Because they had the duty of ‘choosing a god’, after all.
It was not something a human being could normally play the role of.
So, they often used unusually grandiose names like ‘the one chosen by the Great Will’, ‘the one blessed by the Will of the Star’, and ‘disciple’.
And the teachers themselves were passionate about their mission, constantly observing and monitoring the students.
The students were literally having their every action watched.
Only 3 months after their enrollment, during lunch break.
Ceres muttered after eating her meal in the dining hall.
“My mind can’t get any rest in this school, y’know……”
An unfamiliar female student sitting behind her was shaking in fear.
Sitting in front of her, Mitis bitterly smiled.
“You’re pretty fearless, Ceres.”
“Because they’re listening to us now too? I like freedom. I wanna be free!”
“Come on, please calm down.”
“Well, it does feel pretty cramped here for such a big place.”
“Yeah, that! It’s like we have no freedom. I know that’s normal since we’re all going for the same god spot, but still.”
“Are things the same in the track and field club too?”
“Yes.”
Ceres sounded discontent.
In normal high schools, students who entered the track and field club worked towards tournaments or improving their own records.
In this academy however, even club activities were simply another way to be elected as a god.
“They’re looking in different directions. It’s like I don’t mesh with them……”
“So that’s why you’ve been worried about your club activities lately.”
“Nihaha, was it that obvious?”
“You’re always carefree, so I worry when you suddenly seem even a little sad.”
“I’m ashamed. I’ll sleep with you as a thank you, okay?”
“No need!”
Mitis clearly rejected.
Well, it was Ceres who would randomly sneak into her bed, whether it was to thank her or not.
“I think some students don’t want to be a god, but they’re just hiding it.”
“Huh? Then why did they enter this academy?”
Mitis spoke while rolling her pasta around her fork.
“It’s prestigious just to enroll here.”
“I see…… Yeah, this is something to write on your resume with a golden pen.”
“I think I get that.”
“Do you like golden pens too? They’re so cute, right!?”
“Don’t just change the subject like that.”
“In my case, this academy…… It’s more about having a God relative.”
That was Luno’s real experience.
Her parents were affluent, and they had a calm personality, but they used to be a more strict family until her brother entered this academy and got elected as a god.
(She didn’t have it nearly as bad, but I guess Luno and I got so close because we could empathize with each other……)
Mitis remembered the past.
Their first encounter went all the way back to her kindergarten era.
Mitis and Luno with their family problems, and the completely unrelated Ceres who still entangled herself with them.
(……Thinking about that just makes Ceres’s strangeness stand out all the more.)
She was an irregular presence, in a lot of ways.
Leaving that aside, an outstanding presence near someone made one look at their surroundings differently – Mitis had also observed this as a third party.
“Mom and dad are really popular in lecture meetings, y’know.”
“Mhm……”
Perhaps she had mixed feelings about that as their real daughter.
It was not just about how her parents changed compared to before.
She would also never get to see her brother again.
Luno’s brother was in the facility named ‘cradle’ established in this academy.
His body and mind transformed into something that was no longer human, and he lived as a god in a newly created world.
According to Luno, he did not really lament the fact that he was no longer a human being.
That feeling changed depending on the generation.
The words ‘young people losing interest in gods’ was often heard in the media recently, and more people stopped insisting on becoming gods.
So there was a big difference in the way Luno and her parents perceived gods.
(It’s not like Luno and I don’t want to become gods. But I’d rather not get separated from her.)
Their parents, who had affluent lives after their son became a god, were strong believers due to this, so she could not speak her true mind in front of them.
It was a secret between Luno, Mitis and Ceres.
“Luno, your face. That’s the ‘my mom and dad are busy and I feel lonely’ face, isn’t it~?”
“But I think that’s why I got to become sisters with Mitis, so……”
“I guess that’s true too. And they couldn’t adopt her if they had no money.”
“I know. I’m really grateful that they treat me like I’m their real daughter.”
Mitis was thoroughly a daughter of the Aplix family now.
At the beginning, she was worried about whether or not they could be a real family, but it turned out to be an unfounded worry.
So much that even when she entered this dormitory, Mitis wholeheartedly missed her parents and had tears in her eyes.
“I think about it sometimes, though. Everyone is trying so hard to become a god, but how are they going to keep themselves motivated if they can’t do it?”
“Things will work out somehow if they were talented enough to enter this academy.”
“But what if they start saying things like ‘I should have become a god!’, or ‘I am God! Bow before me, humans!’ in the future?”
“I don’t think that’s going to happen……”
“It must be my mistake if you’re saying that, Luno.”
“You actually listen to what Luno says, huh?”
“Then what about you and Luno, Mitis? What will you do after you graduate?”
Luno and Mitis reflexively looked at each other after that question.
A few seconds quietly passed by, and the two blushed.
“Are you emitting a love beam or something?”
“N-No! It’s not like that!”
“Y-Yeah, I was just thinking that I’d want your and Mitis’s children after graduating!”
“Ooh, children…… Children…… Oh? Children!? And with me!?”
“Luno…… D-Do you mean that……?”
After spontaneously blurting out what she really thinks, Luno covered her mouth with her hand and blushed.
It was evident that she was serious from that reaction.
Her embarrassment was infectious.
It affected Mitis, Ceres, and even the other female students who heard her.
“I can’t come up with anything to say after such bold remarks, so please give us a reaction, Miss. Mitis.”
“Don’t throw it at me!”
“It was…… weird, right? Sorry, please forget I said that.”
“N-No, it wasn’t weird! I wanna give birth too!”
“Really!?”
“Mhm…… Really.”
“Oooh, here’s a counter from our athlete Mitis!”
“Say something too, Ceres!”
“Me!? E-Err…… Whose child do you want first, Luno?”
“That’s your question!?”
“Umm…… Ah…… I haven’t decided yet, but…… In the end, I’d like to have children with you two, and for us all to live together……”
Luno peeked at Mitis and Ceres with upturned eyes.
Mitis lost her words because of this cuteness, and Ceres also lost her focus.
Luno seemed to have such desires from the very beginning.
Well, it was not rare these days for two people of the same sex to have children by using in-vitro fertilization.
The mission of those who failed to become a god was to create more human being seeds that could be new candidates to become gods.
If she told her teacher that this was her plan after graduation, the teacher would probably tell her that she is a model human being.
However, this was not something that arose from human instinct for Luno.
She simply loved Mitis and Ceres.
“……Umm. It’s like a wish, y’know. Something like an ideal future. Yeah, it’s like a fantasy.”
“Well, I think it would be nice to turn that fantasy into reality too.”
“I also agree.”
“Ehehe…… Thank you very much.”
Just seeing Luno looking bashful like this made Mitis and Ceres happy.
Nothing would make them happier than to be together forever.
“Miss. Mitis.”
“What, Ceres?”
“What will you name your child with Luno?”
“You’re being really hasty, you know!”
“Ah, are we deciding the name of our first child already?”
“Yeah. What do you think, Luno?”
“I think-”
Luno blushed a little before answering Mitis’s question.
“I would like it to be Mary.”
Mitis spontaneously gave her honest thoughts after hearing that.
“What a cute name.”
“Ehehe, I’m happy to hear you say that……”
Luno blushed after getting complimented.
“Mhm, it’s a hundred times better than the name I came up with, Gonzanrou.”
“Are you serious? Did you actually say that?”
“Sorry, yeah…… It makes no sense to name an eldest daughter ‘Zanrou’……”
“This is nothing to joke about, you know.”
“I think Gonzanrou is pretty cute too!”
“No, you don’t have to entertain her, Luno.”
“What about we meet halfway with Mazanrou?”
“I see, a combination!”
“You should add something too, Mitis! Finalmazanrou! No, maybe Mechazanrou? Finalmechamazanrou!”
“So cool!”
“Sorry, I can’t be a part of that.”
The three of them made merry as they imagined a bright future.
(So our child is Mary……)
Indeed, it was such a cute name.
Mitis wholeheartedly thought so back then.
◇◇◇
Life at the academy still felt cramped, but they got used to not caring about being watched.
The other students who took becoming a god seriously told the three that it was simple-minded to do everything together, but they continued raising their grades.
The biggest thing was Luno’s talent for teaching.
In the last test of their first year, Luno impressively got 3rd place, Mitis got 8th, and Ceres got 13th.
Unfortunately, they were not chosen in that year’s god election, but there were rumors that they would be chosen the next year – things continued going well after that.
◇◇◇
Their academy life was going well.
However, something happened during the spring break at the end of their first year.
It was when Mitis and Luno returned to their family’s house.
Luno was relaxing at home after being away for so long, and randomly entered Mitis’s room.
The room’s owner was not home.
So, normally it would be strange for Luno to enter her room, but they were used to being in the same room already, so Luno didn’t feel like she did anything wrong.
Then, she looked at the manga lined up on top of Mitis’s desk, which Luno often borrowed and read many years ago.
She grabbed them as she listened to the rustling of the paper.
She got curious, and noticed a crumpled piece of paper between two books.
Luno grabbed it and pulled it out.
“It’s an envelope…… with a letter inside.”
There was nothing written on the envelope.
The cover was not glued, and she could take the letter out without breaking the envelope.
Luno hesitated.
This would be invading Mitis’s privacy.
Right now, she was visiting her birth mother, who had started living by herself.
Maybe they were exchanging letters, even though Mitis never showed Luno.
(But there would be an address here if that was the case……)
Indeed, that was her biggest question.
Well, she could just ask Mitis when she came back, but Luno was only making excuses because she was just ‘curious’.
What if this was a secret of Mitis?
But Luno thought that there were no secrets between them.
She felt the pangs of conscience.
However, her curiosity completely won in the end.
“Mitis, I’m sorry!”
And finally, Luno ended up looking at the letter.
◇◇◇
Mitis came back home a few hours later.
Her mother had been doing well since they last saw each other.
She told Mitis that she was making sure not to get close to any man recently, but…… Mitis could not help but think that there was someone she liked.
Love was almost an instinctual feeling.
It would be impossible for Mitis to ‘hate Luno’ even if she was told to, and in the same way, it was difficult for her mother to change.
So Mitis said to her mother before leaving:
“Choose your partner carefully. For your own sake.”
Her mother laughed while seeming a little lonely.
Perhaps she was trying to be a parent again, and took this as a form of rejection of her faint wish by Mitis.
And it would be a lie to say Mitis did not have such an intention.
Her mother was her mother.
She did have feelings for her.
However, if she had to choose one, Mitis would choose the life she had now.
Her parents were kind.
And she could focus on studying.
Most of all, she had Luno.
“I’m home.”
She came into the entrance.
Luno should have been home at this time.
Mitis wondered why there was no reply, and thought that Luno was taking a nap before she went up the stairs.
Then, she entered her room and froze up when she saw Luno.
“Luno, why are you crying……?”
She had cried so much that her eyes were red and swollen.
Mitis frantically ran up to her.
But Luno grabbed Mitis in an angry state that she rarely ever displayed.
Luno was still kind, however, so it looked more like a hug.
“Why did you say that!? Mitis, you’ll always be with meeee!”
Luno screamed and hit Mitis over and over again.
(I don’t know what’s going on……!)
Mitis was confused, but then noticed that Luno was holding a piece of paper.
She quickly realized what it was when she caught a glimpse of the text.
“Geh…… Luno, did you read that!? And where did you even find it!?”
“It was pinned under your manga! Why…… Am I no good? Are you not satisfied by just being with me!? I’ll do anything, I’ll do anything you want, so please…… don’t ever say that you want to die!”
Mitis seemed distressed as she scratched her head.
The letter Luno discovered was unmistakably the ‘suicide note’ Mitis had wrote a few years ago.
“Luno, listen to me.”
“No! This letter is a lie. Tell me I’m wrong, or I won’t listen to anything you say!”
“Listen to me, that’s a very old letter. I don’t think like that any more.”
Luno pointed her moist, red eyes towards Mitis when she said that.
“Really?”
Luno sniffed, and Mitis spontaneously smiled.
“Really. How can I die when there’s such a cute girl with me? I’ll only die if I lose you.”
“Mitis……”
“Luno, I love you. Let’s be together forever.”
“Mhm…… Mhm……!”
They hugged each other tight.
Mitis buried Luno’s face in her chest, and continued stroking her head until she stopped crying.
And a few minutes later, they finally calmed down and sat shoulder to shoulder on a couch.
“I wrote that letter back when I was being abused.”
“Were you really going to take it this far back then?”
“Rather, it’s just that I felt better when I thought that I could die any time I wanted to. So I always had that suicide note in my bag, ready to kill myself any time.”
“If you died, I’d be dead too. Ceres too. It’d be a triple suicide!”
“Mhm, I know now that it’s ridiculous. But I was really trapped back then. Really…… I couldn’t even imagine what was going to be done to me the next day during those times.”
The abuse would soon cross a line.
That was what Mitis felt back then.
She was so afraid of going home.
Perhaps she would already be broken if she did not have that suicide note.
“Anyway, I don’t need it any more. Let’s get rid of it.”
Mitis tore up the suicide note right in front of Luno’s eyes.
“Ah……”
“Okay, now it’s trash, just like those feelings of wanting to die.”
“Mitis…… Mhm. Please never say you want to die again. Please talk to me if you feel like that again, okay?”
“I will. We promised each other our futures. But you too, Luno. Because it’s like our lives are one now.”
The two spent their time quietly cuddling together until their parents came back from work.
But just by feeling each other’s warmth, the hours were more fulfilling than any other.
