The two women who popped out of thin air and landed in Yonghoon’s arms were startled by the surrounding situation. They swallowed their screams inwardly.
Aurora had descended so low it was visible right in front of them, and clouds floated beside them. The clouds were rapidly rising upward. No, it was them falling downward.
This place was 2 kilometers above the ground.
Yonghoon had pulled them in while free-falling downward.
“Why here of all places?!”
Eunseo shouted at Yonghoon. Though her voice couldn’t be heard while falling, Yonghoon could understand her words by reading her lips.
Sunhee, unable to even speak, clung to Yonghoon’s waist, her lips trembling. It was a miracle she hadn’t closed her eyes.
Yonghoon lay on his back with a troubled expression.
He couldn’t help it either.
Contrary to expectations, the enemy could ignore unstable Dimensional Power and perform spatial movement.
On flat ground, there was no way to buy enough time to bring them in.
In the end, he had no choice but to teleport into the air.
Yonghoon shouted at Eunseo.
“The warp array?!”
Seeing Yonghoon’s lip movements, Eunseo nodded.
Yonghoon’s face brightened. At least they had succeeded in blocking further enemy reinforcements. Now, all that was left was to lure the enemy into a trap.
When he had teleported into the air earlier, he thought the enemy would have no way to pursue him anymore.
From the appearance of the Awakened tracking him, Yonghoon could tell they were using the afterimages of Dimensional Power to pursue him.
But in the air, that method was impossible. They would fall before they could confirm the Dimensional Power.
However, the sight of hunters appearing midair left Yonghoon speechless. They could move freely in the air. The one tracking him was a Linker.
He possessed not only spatial tracking abilities but also the ability to fly. He grabbed the arms of Lieutenant General Eunseo and the spatial ability user, chasing after Yonghoon.
Yonghoon tried to shake them off by moving midair while falling, but ultimately failed.
Clearly, the enemy was well-prepared.
Yonghoon, still lying on his back, glared upward.
He saw Lieutenant General Eunseo and other Awakened plummeting toward him from above. No, it was two Awakened and one Linker.
They were getting closer and closer.
Yonghoon considered fighting them right then but realized Eunseo and Sunhee had never undergone drop training. He couldn’t fight while carrying burdens on both sides.
“Damn it!”
Yonghoon let out a rough growl and leapt through space. Yonghoon and the two women vanished into thin air.
After Yonghoon disappeared, Lieutenant General Eunseo and the Awakened who had been falling slowed their descent. They gradually reduced their speed and eventually stopped where Yonghoon had vanished.
Around them, wind surged upward.
Noah, the detection-type Awakened, was a Linker who could track spatial movement and control the air around his body. Thanks to that, he was also called a flying ability user alongside gravity Ability Users.
He confirmed the traces of the dimensional tunnel Yonghoon had created, and the spatial ability user warped again.
Mont Blanc, the highest peak of the snow-covered Alps untouched by humans for decades after monsters appeared, had been blanketed only by pristine snow for decades.
But a few days ago, for the first time in decades, an Awakened had visited, and now he appeared again on the mountainside.
A dimensional tunnel opened, and Yonghoon and the two women appeared over 100 meters above the ground.
Thanks to free fall, they crashed into the ground at tremendous speed.
Boom!
With a tremendous sound, the piled-up snow exploded upward. Had it been the original dimension, they would have been seriously injured.
But this was another dimension, and Yonghoon and the two women immediately got back on their feet.
Yonghoon checked his surroundings.
They were on a small flat area about 50 meters in diameter on Mont Blanc’s mountainside. Beyond the flat area, the snow-covered mountain rose steeply, and behind Yonghoon was a cliff over a thousand meters high.
Yonghoon turned to Eunseo.
“The gray Eunseo’s attack power is stronger than expected! Can you hold her off?”
“I’ll give it a try!”
At Yonghoon’s words, Eunseo raised her shield with a determined expression. Yonghoon was worried about her but had no choice but to push forward with the operation.
He looked up at the sky and focused Dimensional Power into his sword.
Soon, Lieutenant General Eunseo and other Awakened appeared in the sky where Yonghoon had been.
100 meters above the ground.
Unlike Yonghoon, they hovered in the air.
As soon as they appeared, Yonghoon swung his spatial sword.
His sword appeared around them. But this time, the attacks were blocked faster than before.
Lieutenant General Eunseo blocked all the attacks from the front, and Noah created an air barrier to block the rest.
Though the air barrier was shattered by Yonghoon’s sword, his attacks ultimately failed.
“Even a shield!”
Yonghoon shouted in surprise.
At his shout, Lieutenant General Eunseo located Yonghoon and immediately dropped downward. Her spear shone brightly.
Yonghoon swung his spatial sword at Lieutenant General Eunseo, but it was blocked again, and she closed in right before him.
“Please!”
Yonghoon shouted at Eunseo and opened a dimensional tunnel. This location was over 100 meters away from where he had arrived via spatial movement. Here, a dimensional tunnel was possible.
Yonghoon disappeared right in front of the falling Lieutenant General Eunseo.
“No way!”
Lieutenant General Eunseo was extremely shocked. He wasn’t even trying to block her attack. It was something unthinkable unless he was abandoning his comrades.
In her senses, she felt Dimensional Power from above. Lieutenant General Eunseo turned her head and shouted loudly.
“Dodge!”
Hearing Lieutenant General Eunseo’s shout, the two Special Ability Users were startled and tried to teleport or fly elsewhere.
But at the same time, they felt an alien Dimensional Power engulf their entire bodies. They froze in place.
It was Sunhee’s innate ability.
Sunhee raised her hand toward them, gritting her teeth. Their level was considerable. She was forcibly interfering with their Dimensional Power by drawing from the Dimensional Core.
Anton, the spatial ability user, and Noah, the detection-type, struggled to break free from the frozen Dimensional Power as they sensed spatial movement from behind.
Yonghoon appeared behind the two Awakened and swung his spear.
At that moment, Anton succeeded in breaking free from the interference. Yonghoon’s spear severed Anton’s disappearing arm and sliced through Noah’s body.
Noah’s body was cut in half.
Lieutenant General Eunseo immediately sensed the situation above.
Boom!
She landed with a tremendous crash, and her powerful S-rank body withstood the impact of the fall.
Ignoring the pain surging through her body, she charged forward.
She had to at least inflict similar damage. Furious, she swung her spear at the woman who looked exactly like her standing before her.
Eunseo calmly raised her shield. Her identical face had transformed into a demon charging at her.
The speed that had halted the moment she hit the ground accelerated again like a hail of arrows. It was almost imperceptible to her eyes.
But she pushed Dimensional Power into her shield. The opponent was herself at her strongest.
If it was herself, she wouldn’t avoid the duel in front of her to attack elsewhere!
Boom!
‘My prediction was right.’
Bouncing backward, Eunseo felt satisfied that her prediction was correct. However, just as the captain had said, the opponent’s attack was too strong. With just one strike, she realized the bones in her arm were shattered.
Along with that, her Dimensional Power was completely disrupted. As a result, she fainted midair from the shock and pain.
Eunseo was flung toward the cliff.
Seeing that, Sunhee desperately grabbed Eunseo’s flying body and rolled onto the ground.
Just 50 centimeters from the cliff, the two women narrowly avoided falling.
Not far away, Lieutenant General Eunseo rose to her feet. She had been bounced away by Eunseo’s defense.
“What kind of shield is that?”
Lieutenant General Eunseo was very surprised by the shield that had blocked her attack. But that was a problem for later; she hurled herself at Eunseo again.
Boom!
At that moment, Yonghoon fell in front of them.
Seeing Yonghoon land, Eunseo slowed her charge and hardened her expression. She was tense watching Yonghoon fight.
But Yonghoon, having landed, didn’t even look at her and instead grabbed both women with his arms and jumped off the cliff.
‘Why did he jump?’
Lieutenant General Eunseo’s excitement instantly cooled.
‘Dimensional Movement? Or……’
Lieutenant General Eunseo’s face changed at the thought that crossed her mind. She desperately ran inward.
Then, a dimensional tunnel opened where she had been, and Yonghoon’s spear appeared.
Boom!
A sound that shook heaven and earth rang out, and an enormous flame swept across the small clearing.
As he fell downward, Yonghoon looked up at the flames spreading above. With the hand that had thrust the spear, he embraced Sunhee’s body.
The flames were tremendous. But there was no guarantee that the enemy had been killed by them.
Yonghoon hoped for one more effect from this attack.
Rumble!
Looking at the distant mountain peak, it almost seemed like he could hear the sound. The avalanche pouring down from the summit, combined with the flames below, created a majestic sight.
‘Please let them die from this avalanche.’
Yonghoon made a wish as he watched the avalanche. Then, Yonghoon and the two women falling downward left Mont Blanc through the dimensional tunnel.
After the flames subsided, the terrain of the clearing had changed. All the snow had been blown away, and the ground was cracked and torn apart. If the explosion had been any stronger, it might have triggered a landslide instead of just an avalanche.
Lieutenant General Eunseo, who had fled inward, was visible deeper inside the clearing. She was slumped beside a rocky cliff, seemingly having crashed into it due to the explosion.
Her body was covered in blood, but there were no fatal wounds. Her injuries were healing rapidly.
Lieutenant General Eunseo gritted her teeth as she stared ahead.
She struggled to suppress the anger welling up inside her. She had been completely defeated. She had lost her subordinates and been thoroughly humiliated by mere A-rank Awakened.
Lieutenant General Eunseo stood up. Fortunately, she had managed to dodge in time, so her physical condition wasn’t too bad. The real problem was up above.
Lieutenant General Eunseo looked at the snow pouring down from above.
But her expression didn’t change. She trusted her subordinate.
And her trust was rewarded.
“I’m late.”
From behind her, the spatial ability user Anton appeared. One of his arms had been severed, hastily tied off at the elbow with clothing. His face was pale as he apologized to Lieutenant General Eunseo, cold sweat dripping down.
Seeing his severed arm, Lieutenant General Eunseo thought of Noah, whose body hadn’t even been found after being swept away by the explosion.
“Sorry.”
She apologized under her breath.
Then, lifting her head, she asked Anton a question.
“Can you track them?”
They had lost their tracker. But Anton nodded at her words.
“Because I was struck by the sword, I was able to memorize the opponent’s Dimensional Power. Now, no matter where they run, I can track them.”
At his words, Lieutenant General Eunseo let out a small sigh of relief.
She looked at Anton and said,
“Let’s go. This time, we’ll catch them no matter what. I swear it on my honor.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Anton responded and placed his intact hand on her shoulder.
Their figures disappeared from the clearing, and the avalanche swept over the area behind them.
